Freddy Clause is Comin To Town – On Elm St

The Nightmare On Elm Street Remake is in full marketing swing with a new trailer and now a new poster.

Problem I have with the poster? The tag line? It looks like one of the rejected lines from Santa clause is comin to town. I mean, come on… He Knows Where You Sleep.  Unless you’re homeless he’s coming down your fucking chimney to rip you a new one.

It looks lovely, it looks polished but it would be better without the tagline or perhaps a tagline that didn’t treat the audience as though they were idiots.  This poster, because of that one line fills me with dread.  Dread, the film looked polished enough in the trailers when the roughness of the original is what gave it charm.  The casting of the girl next door and not some 90210 starlet made Elm Street a success.

Those redeeming features appear to be gone and this poster only makes me pine more for the days of Robert Englund.  The Sequel that could have rebooted the franchise and brought back two old friends to Springwood.

Alice and Jacob live… give them a chance to die!!

Just curl me up in a ball and beat me… Why they’ve remade the film and not recreated the masterpiece that was the original elm street quad is beyond me.
